With frontispiece of Moore's death mask and one more illustration. A very good copy. First edition inscribed by the author to art collector Sam Courtauld, "For Sam Courtauld because he cares for France and may be interested at any rate by the dedication dated over six years ago. From Charles Morgan. London August 1 1941." The dedication to which Morgan refers is "This essay on an artist who loved France is dedicated by its author to Edmund Jaloux in freindship and admiration, and because an armistice, even of seventeen years, cannot end a natural alliance bewtween two peoples among whom it is still not criminal to think."
