On the Edge of the Etheric, First edition, 18th impression, with dust jacket. It was published in April 1932, just six months after first publication, and it was the fifth impression of that month alone. This work defends the direct voice mediumship of John Campbell Sloan and supports the idea of life after death through the existence of the etheric body. Findlay describes the human being as consisting of body, soul, and spirit, with the spirit being the etheric body, an exact duplicate of the physical body; death, he argues, is simply the separation of the two.The author attended numerous séances with Sloan and became convinced that spirit voices were speaking through the medium, including his own father's. In the book, he states that he once heard 30 different voices speak in one session, each with a different tone and personality. He emphasizes Sloan's credibility, noting that the medium refused payment and regarded his work as a duty.A prominent figure in the Spiritualist movement, Findlay was a founder of the Psychic News, as well as the International Institute for Psychical Research. His former home, Stansted Hall, was gifted to the Spiritualists' National Union and is now a college dedicated to Spiritualism and Psychic Science.
