Our Lives and Our Children.

After witnessing a plume of smoke rising from the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant located ten miles from his home Adams made this series of photographs of the people of Denver and its suburbs. In the afterword he writes, 'Armaments built at risk to Denver become part of a worldwide system so open to error and malfunction that it is reasonable to believe many of us will, at a scarcely imaginable but exact time, die from them'. Adams invoked the contemplation of individuals as the political solution: 'How mysteriously absolute each is. How many achieve, in moments of reflection or joy or concern, a kind of heroism. Each refutes the idea of acceptable losses.' First edition; 4to (278 x 214 mm, 11 x 8½ in); black white photographs and text by Adams, design by John Foos; adhesive-bound photo-illustrated wrappers, printed in light blue, fine; [96]pp.
