Rare. OCLC records copies at V A and National Library of Scotland only. A fine series of views of the remains of Pompeii, “done from drawings made on the spot by the author”. Charles Heath Wilson (1809-1882) was the eldest son of the landscape painter Andrew Wilson (1780-1848). Charles accompanied his father on a trip to Italy in 1836 which resulted in this fine series of plates illustrating the remains of Pompeii. Wilson practiced as an architect in Edinburgh and also taught design and painted. In 1869 Wilson left Scotland and moved with his family to Florence. This work is dedicated to George Cranstoun, Lord Corehouse (1770-1850) the Scottish advocate, judge and satirist. The views are: The Street of Tombs, House of Panza, two views of The Forum, The Temple of Isis and The Theatres.
