Mémoire ... du Psoralea Esculenta (Picquotaine), et sur sa végétation aux prairies du territoire de l'Iowa.
£750 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd
A crisp copy of this rare offprint. The Psoralea Esculenta, better known as the Prairie Turnip is a plant native to North America. It grows as far north as Manitoba, to Texas, Wisconsin, Montana, and Iowa where it’s also called “Tipsina.” Apparently, the capital city of Kansas, Topeka, translates from Kansa and Siouan languages as “a good place to dig prairie turnips.” This article described the author’s efforts to introduce it to France and compares the results to how it thrives in its native habitat.
