Seven Girls. First edition, signed and dated by the author on the verso of the half title: "Agnes Spencer Clarke, Feb 9th 1900". Spencer (1870-1965) was a suffragette who collected laundry accounts, wrote for local Leicester newspapers, and published three novels informed by her socialist ideals. Seven Girls depicts the lives and loves of workers in a steam laundry.
