Vezino's Non-Hoardable Foolproof Monetary System.

£500 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd

A presentation copy, inscribed by the author to the great American economist Irving Fisher in black ink to the front free endpaper: ‘To Prof. Fisher - Let us dedicate our lives to the abolition of poverty, crime and war. Vezino deVizino.’ Loosely inserted is a small advertorial pamphlet for the work: “Here is a book which, next to the Bible, threatens to become the World’s best seller - for the reason that it advocates the sublimest and noblest cause since Jesus preached “ Good Will To Men .” Written by an economist and efficiency expert… The author not only points the way… to a higher and better civilization…; but in doing so, strikes terror to all the world’s subversive forces of both the Fascist, Nazi and Communist brands, and what he calls ‘the imps of our money-mad-clan - including the international bankers and their devil’s money system.’ They who look upon themselves as the divinely appointed privileged few - the masters of the under-privileged millions.” In short, the author presents himself as a economic saviour of the people, drawing parallels with himself and Jesus, while at the same disclaiming the idea: “This writer makes no claim of being a reincarnate Moses; a second Christ; or a new Napoleon” (pp. 11). Rare. OCLC list only five copies in the US.
