Though she lived another 17 years, Stowe's literary career was almost concluded when she inscribed this copy during one of her many holiday retreats at Bay View House, facing Ferry Beach in Saco, Maine.Uncle Tom's Cabin was first published in 1852 and exerted immediate and lasting international influence. This edition has the contents bordered in red and includes a new introduction and a bibliography of the novel by George Bullen.
