Rare. OCLC records a single copy of this catalogue at the University of St Andrews. ESTC records many issues of this catalogue from c.1785 onwards which usually survive in a small number of copies. Often these catalogues were bound in at the end of works sold by Taylor but it seems likely that they were also issued separately to potential buyers. A very detailed catalogue of architectural books offered at Josiah Taylor’s famous Architectural Library. “….the dominant publisher and seller of architectural books in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century was Josiah Taylor’s Architectural Library, 59 High Holbourn. Taylor’s offered a mail order service, sending out lists to their subscribers and selling three or four architectural titles as a single bound collection through which the gentleman scholar could compare works and follow the exchange of ideas from one architectural essay to the next” (Daniel Maudlin, The Idea of the Cottage in English Architecture, 1760 - 1860 (2015) p87). This catalogue includes an advertisement for Humphry Repton’s Observations on The Theory and Practice of Landscape Gardening , “price - Four Guineas to Subscribers - and to Non Subscribers, Five Guineas”
