I’m offering a signed and personalized 1999 hardcover copy of The Myth of Adolescence: Raising Responsible Children in an Irresponsible Society by Dr. David Alan Black, published by Davidson Press. Black challenges the modern idea of adolescence as a protected stage between childhood and adulthood. He argues from a biblical perspective that young people should be trained for responsibility, accountability, work, marriage, family life, and adult Christian service. The book is organized for individual reading, parenting study, adult Sunday school, or a nine-week Bible-study course. The front endpaper carries a handwritten presentation inscription to Richard Rhodes, followed by good wishes and the author’s signature as “Dave Black.” I have not had the signature professionally authenticated. The original CD-ROM is included in its clear pocket inside the rear cover. The disc is labeled The New Testament International Standard Version Bible Explorer 2.0. I have not tested the disc, and compatibility with current computers or operating systems is not guaranteed. This is a used working copy. The white hardcover boards have rubbing, scattered marks, handling wear, edge wear, and bumped corners. The lower spine and lower corners have additional wear. One interior page has a pronounced bent and creased upper corner. This is the only bent page in the book. The remaining pages are clean and readable, and the binding remains together.
