With an unsigned undated gift inscription “To David Cornwell Esq., With many thanks from the Eton College Literary Society.” Cornwell had taught at Eton from 1956 to 1958 and must have returned to address this society - presumably the address must have been after 1964 when he was unmasked as Le Carré, unless he was addressing them on German literature.
