Intimate Journals. First edition in English, number 47 of 50 copies signed by T. S. Eliot and specially bound, from a total edition of 400. The "journals" included are "Squibs and Crackers", "My Heart Laid Bare", and "A Selection of Consoling Maxims upon Love".Baudelaire had long been an influence on both Eliot and Isherwood. Eliot included a line from the preface of Baudelaire's Les fleurs du mal in The Waste Land ("Hypocrite lecteur! - mon semblable, - mon frère!"). Ishwerwood had been reading Baudelaire's works since university, and was recommended as the translator for the Journals by W. H. Auden who knew the founders of the Blackamore Press. Auden provided an introduction for the 1947 edition.
