The Wild Wreath. First edition of this poetry anthology by the daughter and literary editor of the novelist and socialite Mary Robinson, or "Perdita" (1757-1800). Mainly composed of the elder Robinson's poetry, including "London's Summer Morning", it also features poems by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Anna Seward, and Erasmus Darwin. The anthology "demonstrates Maria Elizabeth Robinson's (1774-1818) keen awareness both of how to create an enduring canonical reputation and of the important role the poetic collection played in the making of such a reputation" (Lee, p. 177). Many of the poems draw from the Gothic tradition, such as Robinson's "The Lady of the Black Tower" and Coleridge's "The Mad Monk".
