A fine copy, Inscribed on the half title “For Jane David Panama April 1 2001.” Koster, novelist and journalist, was Cornwell’s friend and fixer in Panama. A letter to Koster during the planning of The Tailor of Panama ( A Private Spy , p404) illustrates Cornwell’s methods, saying that “ … my interests are as usual arcane. If an English tailor had set up a high-quality custom tailoring business for the élite of Panama surrounding countries, where would it be sited, how would he live, where - he’s married with children - what would his social life be … these are the kind of things we wd be exploring together … treating fantasy as non-fiction researching it on the ground …“ From the library of David Cornwell aka John Le Carré. Maggs Bros. Ltd., Catalogue 1526, John Le Carré: Books from The Library of Jane and David Cornwell at Tregiffian, Item 214.
