The Works of Jonathan Edwards (Two Volume Complete Set) Author:Jonathan Edwards Publisher:Hendrickson Publishers Release Date:2000 Jacket Condition: Seller Category:Theology Qty Available:1 Condition:Used: Excellent Media:Hardcover Notes: A reprint of the major 1834 collected edition of Edwards’s writings, revised and edited by Edward Hickman. It includes a memoir by Edwards’s great-grandson, Sereno E. Dwight, and is designed as a more readable and complete presentation of the principal published works available at that time. This two-volume collection of Edwards' works features important sermons of the Great Awakening as well as Edwards' memoirs and other essays. Jonathan Edwards (1703–1758) was a leading New England Congregational theologian, philosopher, and preacher whose ministry and writings were central to the Great Awakening. The Hendrickson set (like the parallel Banner of Truth edition) draws on the 1834 collected works, incorporating material from earlier American editions, extracts from Edwards’s diaries and papers, and various smaller pieces originally published separately. It is not the modern Yale multi-volume critical edition of the complete corpus (including extensive unpublished manuscripts), but it contains the major treatises and many sermons that established Edwards’s reputation.
