Travels in Northern Asia; Compiled from Authentic Sources.

£300 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd

An interesting work of juvenile adventure fiction, based on factual geographical information. The work purports to narrate the experiences of one Captain Blisset and William Walsh on an overland journey through Northern Asia. The captain and his companion travel around the Black Sea, through the Caucasus region, into Russia and the Tartar regions of Northern Asia and then to Siberia. The woodcuts are of: A Kamtschadale Sledge; A Circassian Chief; A Calmuck Tartar; An Usbeck Tartar; A Sledge Drawn by Rein Deer; and A Kamtschatka Sledge, drawn by Dogs (same as the first woodcut but with a slightly different caption).
