A VIEW OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN A SERIES OF PAPERS...INTERSPERSED WITH AUTHENTIC DOCUMENTS: THE WHOLE TENDING TO EXHIBIT THE PROGRESS AND PRESENT STATE OF CIVIL AND RELIGIOUS LIBERTY, ... An important document by this early American economist and Treasury official. This is certainly the most comprehensive and accurate collection of data on the American economy made in the 18th century, detailing Coxe's investigations into every branch of American trade and industry. Coxe was a delegate to the Continental Congress and supporter of the U.S. Constitution who later became a Federalist, lending his considerable knowledge and expertise to Alexander Hamilton during the production of his famous Report on Manufactures. This copy lacks the folding table at p.425, but includes a second copy of the "State of Pennsylvania" table.
