This is the first issue of this edition (issued c.1905) with the original pp xxiii/xxiv. There were two later issues each with different text amendments. The Balkan states are described as they were before the Balkan Wars 1912/1913. Salonika was still part of Turkey and the plans of the excavations at Troy are especially well produced. Issued c.1905 First edition. pp. xxiv, 275, 9 maps, 29 plans, and 5 floor plans, with censorship slip tipped in, some maps a little creased, bookseller's label pasted down on endpapers, previous owner's bookplate inserted loose, some pencilling on endpapers ; publisher's red cloth gilt, a little rubbed; overall a very good copy.
