Drew made a nine year stay in Kashmir between 1862 and 1871, and travelled widely in the country. This abridged edition was produced to meet the high demand for books on Northern India and Kashmir that were fast becoming popular travel destinations for wealthy Victorians. This edition is considerably smaller and more compact making it ideal for transporting across the plains and hills of India.
