The dedicatee was the Scottish poet and novelist George Mann Macbeth. Loosely inserted is an ALS dated Wednesday 25th June, 'Dear George, Here is your dedicatee's copy of my book. I think Scorpion have made it look quite pleasant - the colour + design of the jacket are perhaps appropriate to an elderly liberal backslider. Yours, Peter'. First edition, first impression, dedication copy with ALS loosely inserted; 8vo; trivial spotting to endpapers, else unmarked internally; publisher's black cloth, gilt lettering to spine, with the unclipped dust-jacket, spine toned, minor dust-soiling, else very good.
