Moving On. First edition, inscribed on the front free endpaper: "For Ernie, in friendship & with all good wishes - Larry McMurtry 6-98-71." The recipient was possibly the author Ernest J. Gaines; he and McMurtry were contemporaries at Stanford University's creative writing program in 1958. McMurtry gave Gaines's novel In My Father's House a warm review for the New York Times in 1978.Moving On is the first novel in the McMurtry's informal Houston cycle.
