Up for sale is a rare historical paperback booklet titled "Background of the Six-Day War," authored by Jan Dziedzic and Tadeusz Walichnowski. Published in Warsaw by Interpress Publishers in 1969. This rare English-translated work provides an immediate post-conflict contemporary view from Eastern Europe regarding the build-up and political landscape leading into the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. PROVENANCE: This book features the official "The Library of Sir Ben Helfgott MBE" bookplate firmly attached inside the front cover. Sir Ben Helfgott (1929–2023) was an influential Polish-born British Holocaust survivor, Olympic champion, and tireless champion of Holocaust education, community relations, and documentation. Books covering global Jewish and military history directly out of his library carry superb contemporary provenance. CONDITION: Good vintage condition. The booklet shows light edge wear and minor corner bumping to the illustrated covers. Internally, the pages are tight and legible, though there is a clear area of light water discolouration along the bottom spine crease on the inner blank page (see photo detail). The bookplate remains excellently preserved. Securely packed and shipped quickly from a clean, smoke-free home.
