Leben des General=Majors Andreas Jackson, ENTHALTEND EINE GESCHICHTE DES KRIEGS IM SÜDEN, VOM ANFANGE DES FELDZUGS GEGEN DIE CREEKS, BIS ZUR BEENDIGUNG DER FEINDSELIGKEITEN VOR ... A German translation of this biography of President Andrew Jackson, printed in the German community at Reading, Pennsylvania. The original English edition was published in 1817, prior to Jackson's election, though this is a translation of the revised and expanded third edition, which was updated and published by Eaton as a campaign biography in 1828. Eaton was a U.S. Senator and served as Secretary of War in Jackson's cabinet, and was author of several different works promoting his long-time political collaborator. Eaton and his wife, Peggy, were at the center of the "Petticoat Affair," a Washington social scandal during Jackson's first term. The folding map at the rear of the volume depicts the eastern United States and labels areas inhabited by various Native American tribes as well as major towns and geographical features. This edition not in Sabin.
