Antique pocket-sized hardcover edition of The Coquette; or the History of Eliza Wharton, written by Mrs. Hannah Webster Foster ("A Lady of Massachusetts") and published by Abel Brown. Dated 1828. Eleventh Edition. 264 pages. Bound in leather. Approximately 5.25" tall, 3" wide, and 1" thick. Gilt decorations on spine are wearing off and a little dye is shedding from the leather. Publication date of 1828 is likely accurate. This novel was published anonymously (reflected in this edition) until the author's identity was revealed in 1856, sixteen years after Hannah Webster Foster's death.
