signed An attractive, signed set of the works of Joseph Conrad, here presented with the loose original printed dedication from The Nigger of the 'Narcissus' (Heinemann, 1897) loosely inserted. Two more volumes were added later in the print-run, The Rover, first appeared serially in the Pictorial Review in 1923 and Suspense, the author's unfinished work published posthumously in 1925; the author died in August 1924 aged 66. Therefore, this set was published in Conrad's lifetime. number 566 of 750 sets for sale signed in first vol; 18 vols, 8vo; titles printed in red black, pictorial endpapers, toning to first half-title and to lesser degree the limitation page, two leaves in volume 18 badly cut on fore-edge but not affecting text; publisher's buckram-backed boards with author's signature reproduced on upper covers, some minor marking and rubbing, spines slightly toned.
