Gusha No Fune: The Ship of Fools is a re-edited version of a series of photographs published in the magazine Gekkan Shokun! between 1986 and 1988. These photographs were made in Tokyo at the end of the Showa era in response to the two-part question, 'Is Tokyo a paradise? Are those who live there happy?' Of the eight books published in Suzuki's lifetime, this is the only one issued by a publishing house; the others were self-published. First edition; oblong 4to (183 x 257 mm, 7¼ x 10 in); colour and black-and-white photographs, text by Ueno Akashi, light toning; photo-illustrated black endpapers printed in silver, illustrated paper-covered boards, photo-illustrated dust-jacket, title stamped in silver on upper side, minor wear, publisher's ticket laid in, without the printed band, near-fine; [92]pp.
