The first inscription in red ink reads, 'A.C.M.P. [recipient not identified] / Your comments please / G.S.O. III 1(a) 4/5'. The second in blue ink reads, 'Robert Henriques / from Evelyn Waugh, 4/5/43.' The recipient here was a commando, and advisor on Judaism to Waugh in his writing of Helena. First edition, first impression, one of 500 copies, twice inscribed by the author; 8vo; occasional faint spotting, else unmarked internally; publisher's red cloth, gilt lettering to spine, with the original dust-jacket, heavy spotting, occasional chips and nicks, spine browned, else very good.
