The first edition of Yeats' first regularly published work, The Wanderings of Oisin. One of only 500 copies, Yeats later noted that the work 'was published by subscription, John O'Leary [the Fenian and President of the Irish Republican Brotherhood] finding most of the subscribers' (I Became an Author, 1938). First edition; small 8vo (18.5 x 12.5 cm); light spotting to endpapers, hinges starting to split but holding; publisher's dark blue cloth, lettered in gilt to upper cover and spine, publisher's device in blind to lower panel, all edges uncut, the first two leaves unopened at the head margin, minor wear to extremities, otherwise a handsome copy; [2], vi, 156pp. Wade 2.
