A handsome carte-de-visite of Sayyid Barghash bin Said al-Busaidi (1836-88), who ruled Zanzibar from 1870 to 1888. The National Portrait Gallery hold two other photographs of Barghash by Maull Co., a carte-de-visite and a cabinet card, the latter showing the Sultan’s signature beneath a standing portrait.
