Estridge was collector of taxes in the British colonial administration in the early 1880's, serving as Collector of Customs at Mahé in the Seychelles. This work includes notes on the history and topography of the Seychelles, together with details of its trade and commerce and a detailed account of its natural history. Rare, with only 8 copies in libraries worldwide and only three in UK (Oxford, Cambridge, Kew). Not in BL. First edition; 4to, 59 pp., inscribed by the author on title, dedication leaf, 30 mounted photographic illustrations after drawings by the author, folding plan, double-page letterpress table, original roan, titled in gilt on upper cover, neatly rebacked to match, all edges gilt, a very good copy.
