REVISED STATUES OF WYOMING. IN FORCE JANUARY 1, 1887. These revised statutes for Wyoming also reprint the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the United States Constitution, the Organic Act of Wyoming, and "all laws of Congress affecting the Territorial Government." These revisions were "prepared and edited" by a commission including Willis Van Devanter, who was nominated to the Supreme Court by William Howard Taft and served as a Justice from 1910 to 1937. He was also an important legal figure in Wyoming, serving as an attorney to the Stock Growers Association during the Johnson County cattle war, intentionally delaying proceedings so that his clients could exert their influence on the local press. As a Supreme Court Justice he was famously conservative, voting against federal regulation of labor relations, unemployment insurance, and the federal minimum wage.
