I believe the inscription inside says "Compliments of the Editor" so I believe this a signed/autographed book. I don't know how to rate books so I gave it the lowest rating because the cover is very damaged. There is browning and spotting throughout and an odor. See pictures for reference to condition. This hardcover was edited and published in 1869 by Rev. D. E. Bierce. His mother Chloe died in 1846 and this book contains a chapter about her written several months later by her husband H. N. Bierce, followed by diary entries she made prior to her marriage, circa 1820, while working as a teacher in or near Nelson, Pennsylvania. The book was meant to be distributed only to her children and relatives (according to the preface), so likely very few copies were printed.
