A wonderfully bright and rare example of Russian children's illustration by the Abkhazian prince, artist and theatre designer Aleksandr Shervashidze. The drawings are very much inspired by Russian traditional woodcuts but also have a modernist influence - typical of Russian émigré art of the 1920s. First edition, 8vo (23.5 x 18.5 cm); 16 pp., illustrations in colour after Shervashidze; original printed wrappers, spine glued, wrappers a little browned and edges worn, otherwise a very good copy.
