£500 · Offered by Peter Harrington · No longer available

Rocannon's World. First edition of Le Guin's first book, signed by the author on the title page. This is the first novel in what would later be referred to as the Hainish Cycle, introducing themes that became cornerstones of Le Guin's writing. In this novel she also coins the word "ansible" for a faster-than-light communicator, a term that has since been used by other Science Fiction writers, including Orson Scott Card.
