A nice association copy, presented from one Nobel Prize winner to another, inscribed by the author to the Cambridge economist Richard Stone ‘Dr. Stone, Cambridge With the Compliments of TH.’ in blue ink to the front cover. Both Haavelmo and Stone were both major figures in the development of post-war econometrics, and Stone had earlier written a glowing review of Haavelmo’s doctoral thesis The Probability Approach in Econometrics (1944) in the Economic Journal. The present article was offprinted from the Festskrift til Professor Dr. Polit. Jorgen Pedersen.
