First edition, presentation copy to Winston Churchill, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "Winston Churchill from the author, 1924".Herbert Asquith was the son of Prime Minister H. H. Asquith (in office 1908-1916), under whom Churchill served as President of the Board of Trade, Home Secretary, First Lord of the Admiralty, and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. Wind's End was his first novel, a murder mystery set in the Cotswolds.
