The bill aims to regulate the way in which Jewish members of the House of Commons would be sworn in. The bill states that the words 'Upon the true Faith of a Christian' should be omitted from the Oath of Abjuration when a Jewish member take the oath. Baron Lionel Nathan de Rothschild (1808-1879) was the first Jewish person to become a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons on July 26, 1858. 2 sheets of folio-sized blue tinted paper, printed on one side of each sheet.
