Common Chords. First edition, one of 107 copies, inscribed by the author on the limitation page, "Inscribed for Raymond Lister. Siegfried Sassoon. 21.5.57", with Lister's bookplate. Lister (1919-2001) was an author, artist, and metalworker. He founded the Golden Head Press, which published Sassoon's 1955 play An Adjustment."Written under the same kind of intense emotions which had given rise to his First World War satires, these poems of his spiritual odyssey resemble them also in what Sassoon called 'direct utterance of dramatized emotion'" (Wilson, p. 366).
