DUNBAR, William.

The Poems. First collected edition of one of the great Scottish makars (court poets) of the late medieval period, here handsomely bound. Though well-regarded by his contemporaries, Dunbar faded into obscurity in subsequent centuries until this edition consolidated his reputation. If Robert Burns "remained the people's bard, however, in the 20th century, Dunbar has certainly advanced his claim to be the poets' poet" (ODNB).
