A Poetical Translation of the Works of Horace. Later edition, smartly bound, of what Samuel Johnson proclaimed as the best translation of Horace: "Francis has done it the best; I'll take his, five out of six, against them all" (Boswell vol. II p. 240). The works were originally published between 1742 and 1746. This set comprises the fourth edition of Volumes I-III and the third edition of Volume IV.The volumes present the original Latin and Francis's translations side by side.
