Caption continues, “An artist-correspondent sends us the accompanying sketch of an interesting incident in connection with the King’s illness which occured at Grindleford, in Derbyshire. A local choir, which had been fulfilling an engagement in the neighbourhood, had to wait for a train. The interval was utilised for the holding of an impromptu service of intercession, with appropriate hymns and tunes.” News of the King’s indisposition, coming so close to his mother Queen Victoria’s death and to the impending Coronation, threw the country into a state of consternation, approaching despair.
