Item #18241 Stamped on the back Property of Puck, N.Y. and with the pencilled legend Sept 7/97 2:30 PM , and in the bottom front margin, 4 3/4 Rush , all of which suggest that this is an illustration for an article, or possibly the original of a cartoon, for the popular turn-of-the-century New York publication, Puck. We have not been able to trace the artist, but he was a more than competent
