wrappers designed by Annenkov Tikhonov was associated with Serapion Brothers literary circle which included Mikhail Zoshchenko and Yevgeny Zamyatin. Much like Zoshchenko, Tikhonov had fought with the Red Army in the Civil War and his writing often included military themes. In 1944 he became chair of the Union of Soviet Writers, but was dismissed by Stalin in 1946 for being too tolerant of Zoshchenko and Akhmatova. First edition, 8vo (20 x 14.5 cm); 110pp.; original printed wrappers designed by Yuriy Annenkov, repairs to spine, in a later black folding chemise, a fine copy. MoMA 366.
