Ruttledge's richly illustrated narrative of the fourth Everest expedition. Members of the expedition included Shipton and Smythe. The book also includes an account of efforts to obtain permission from both the British and Tibetan Governments to climb Everest through Tibet in the twentieth century. First edition.
