This original edition is scarce. Isenburg, a German Protestant, was like his fellow countryman Krapf an accomplished linguists and both were employed by the London Church Missionary Society in Ethiopia and East Africa. They published a joint account of their expedition together and Isenberg also published an account of his third journey (Bonn 1844, 2 vols).
