Enough Rope. First edition of the author's first book, an exceptional copy in the rare dust jacket. Enough Rope made Parker's reputation as one of America's greatest wits almost overnight. Though dismissed as "flapper verse" by the New York Times, Parker's debut was widely admired: The Nation praised her prose as "caked with a salty humor, rough with splinters of disillusion, and tarred with a bright black authenticity" (Meade, p. 177).This copy has an attractive bookplate after Dürer's woodcut for the "book fool" from Sebastian Brant's Ship of Fools, framed by a quotation from character: "for this is my mind, this one pleasure have I, of books to have great plenty".
