Described by the Poetry Review as 'something between The Hunting of the Snark and Don Quixote', Crowley's quest play first appeared in The Equinox, Vol I, No. IV (September 1910). In his Confessions Crowley describes Palamedes as 'the most ambitious attempt to describe the Path of the Wise as I knew it' (Confessions of Aleister Crowley, p 602). A very clean copy of the first book edition. Yorke 35. First edition sole impression. 4to (254 x 188 mm). Publisher's white cloth, titled in gilt to spine and upper cover, top edge gilt, minor foxing to endpapers, spine just a little toned but a truly exceptional copy and rare in this condition.
