The Complaisant Lover. First edition, first impression, inscribed by the author on the title page, "For Clive from Graham Greene". Clive Hirschhorn (b. 1940), was the film and theatre critic for the Sunday Express for over three decades. His ownership inscription, dated 1986, appears on the front pastedown.The Complaisant Lover premiered on 18 June 1959 at the Globe Theatre, London. The first Broadway production opened at Ethel Barrymore Theatre on 1 November 1961 and featured Gene Wilder (1933-2016) during his debut years.
