Pan A Double Villanelle. And Desespoir a Sonnet. Hitherto Unpublished Poems.

£2,000 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd

An unusual copyright printing (and as rare as the limitation suggests), using the setting of the ‘Authorized Edition’ published by Luce in 1909. It was originally issued in unbound sheets, and its present rather attractive presentation was done by an unknown early owner. The unconventionally fancy lettering suggests the work of someone other than a conventional professional bookbinder: it has the demeanour of nice quality desk-furniture, a blotter maybe. OCLC list five copies held institutionally in North America (University of California, Los Angeles; Gleeson Library; Library of Congress; University of Louisville; McMaster). Library Hub adds a single copy in British institutions, held by the University of Oxford. Yapp edges slightly worn, especially at the head, wrappers slightly bowed, leading to a little, uneven wear on the lower cover. Mason 450.
