Rankin utilised a few different motifs in his book-signings, including hangman's gibbet, noughts crosses, and a smiley face doodle. First edition, first printing, signed by the author with his 'knots' crosses motif; hardback format 8vo; publisher's red boards, dust-jacket with illustration by Kerry Kirkwood, a fine copy.
